My Grandbaby's First Grandma-Knit Sweater

I have had this sweater pattern since I was pregnant with my second child, who turns 25 this month, and I made two for her before I got so busy with two babies that finishing an entire sweater, even small size, became impossible. So, now I got it back out to make one for my first born’s first born.

The pattern:

The yarn:

The yarn is a cotton/bamboo blend that feels divine. It was part of an enormous stash I recently inherited through a friend.

I got it done lightning fast in time for the baby shower!

(The other grandma sent me this pic. I wasn’t able to be at the shower.)

It’s so sweet! The style is a classsic and it’s extra nice that it’s a pattern you used for your own baby, too.

Thank you @TheMistressT @sheepBlue @Bunny1kenobi

I love the color too! It has more turquoise than my phone camera wants to show easily so I keep having to adjust the color. Imagine sky blue meets turquoise.

My daughter has been very serious about not sharing the baby’s gender on social media. She was irritated that other family members were giving it away. The ones who didn’t raise her. I didn’t question any of this, but I did say “I am sorry honey, I think my sweater yarn choice may have given away the secret.” But she says it’s ok because I keep using gender neutral words for the baby. I did learn that much from her teenage years. I would have loved the color for a girl baby too though. :winking_face_with_tongue:

I would wear that color and I’m most decidedly a girl! There was a time when pink was considered masculine and blue was feminine!

it looks so soft and squishy! Great little sweater!

All colors are gender-neutral by nature, it’s humans who so oddly assign such and differently across cultures and time.

Thank you friends!!!

Whats funny about color and gender is I was the little girl who liked rust orange, brown, and so much black! (Scandalous!) When my oldest hit the age where she could express color favorites it was pink and purple and sparkly and all the older women in my family thought it was hilarious that I got such a girly girl! (Like she was gonna show me.) Lol… Whatever.

Thank you! :purple_heart:

It’s the cutest, sweetest little thing. I hope you’ll get to see new baby in your sweater in person, that will be the greatest.
