I tend to strongly prefer cotton yarn when weaving on the inkle loom, but in my personal quest always also be looking for neon supplies, I came across the perfect acrylic yarn for some fluorescent shoelaces!
I really need to make more shoelaces, but getting aglets on is a little bit of a pain.
(Just for those interested, I’ve been using electricians shrink tubing and a heat gun!)
Here’s one more photo of the laces under a black light!
Those are wonderful shoelaces. They’re on my list to try sometime, and I already have the electricians shrink tubing, but my list is so long that it will be awhile. How long was your warp and what is the final length of your laces? Also, do you wet finish them?
Thanks! I didn’t wet finish these, mostly because this acrylic yarn didn’t seem to need it and I figured they wouldn’t be going through the washing machine all the time.
I used the whole warp length of my Ashford and cut it in half for two laces approx 45” each.
