Both my brother and sister are coaster users, so I am constantly using my scraps from other sewing projects to make them coasters. We don’t use them most of the time since we have impervious furniture (teak or laminate tables), but I still have a basketful for guests or my siblings to use.
Here is the set I made for my brother, who has 13 cats.
These are for my sister for her winter home in Florida. I am working on a matching set of placemats, but wanted to get something finished quickly before meeting a work deadline tomorrow. Sewing helps me concentrate.
Both patterns are lovely, but is it any surprise I’m drawn to the cats? Haha. I’m sure these will be greatly appreciated!

My brother “takes” whatever I have that has a cat on it. He gets teased a lot about being The Cat Lady" in the neighborhood, but he doesn’t mind. He is a truck driver and often finds abandoned cats at truck stops that he takes home. He just can’t resist cats.
13 cats. I am not only jealous he is getting those great coasters, but the number of cats he has!
I think the placemats to match the coasters will make a great set. They have a very Florida feel to them.

He is fortunate that both my sister and I love cats as well. We help him with food and there is a vet that gives him a volume discount on care as well as a charitable organization that helps with shots and neutering. I have to be careful when he visits because he always teasingly tries to take my cat art. You know I have received many cat-related items from swaps…well, some of them live in his house now!
