First project of the year, something for me! Practical, fun, cute, recycled. All the good things!
One of the kids bought cookies this year, as soon as the tin was empty you know I found it utterly irresistible!
I need a sewing kit at the house anyhow, everything has been moved to the studio at our other place. I don’t even have a needle or spool of thread here, can you believe that? Well, problem solved now!
A little figuring out the shapes & piecing…
Stitching the dividers to the middle circle was tricky but a long needle as a stitch guide kept things straight & even (removed afterwards, of course!)
There’s a round plastic container cut to the height of the tin & inserted in the center, then the felt tube is tucked over inside.
Another piece of the same container cut & hot glued a bit smaller to fit in there
then covered in fabric (more hot glue) & stuffed with fluff to make a pincushion
I worked yesterday until 3 and the fabric store was open until 4 so I ran right over there straight from the office for felt and fabric. But I ended up spending a boatload of dough, I can not shop in a hurry! And then of course there is nothing here to even put into a sewing kit so I ordered a bunch of stuff online. For a handmade recycled item, this has been a very expensive project, lol. I’m happy about it though. Project #1 of 2026 complete!
