I finished my goal of making at least 5 projects out of the orphan quilt blocks that I have had in my stash for years.
These blocks were ones that never got used for various reasons.
Let’s start with my favorite. A zippered pouch using the open wide pouch by Noodlehead. The colors go so well together but I didn’t get enough to make a full quilt.
The lining is from stash. It has some metallic gold swirls that really shine. The zipper is also from stash. No idea where I got it, but it had some purple on the black so I used it.
Next up, a stand up pouch. I totally forgot to quilt it while it was flat so I was limited to whatever straight lines I could do without taking it apart.
Pouch #3, sort of a small box travel pouch. I might use this one to hold my new flexi knitting needles. I winged this one, and, to be honest, I totally screwed up with the lining. This is the case where the inside is way smaller than the outside. I just couldn’t remember how to sew it to turn it inside out. Oh, well…it’s still cute and works!
Last, but not least, I was tired of putting in zippers so I used the last block to make a basket to hold my scrappy blocks. Underneath the basket are the left over scraps from this last rash of orphan block projects. I can’t seem to throw away even the tiny scraps!
I love that you used up so many scrappy quilt blocks! The results are lovely! And only you would know about the smaller-on-the-inside pouch!

Yeah, it is my Reverse Tardis pouch…just goes to show that no matter how long you have been sewing, you can still mess it up…but also, everything is salvageable!
Heck yeah!I love that you found a way to use all these lonely little blocks!

Thanks! They are already in use!
I have made so many pouches but rarely for myself.
I am trying to figure out if I can use a few more blocks to make a new sewing machine cover. My little cat is becoming a pain. I have to unthread my machine a lot because he is obsessed with thread. A heavy strong cover would help a lot…I think I have a plan on how to do it…
I went on a trip over teh weekend and kept thinking how much I needed a new large opening zip pouch. I am going to have to check out that pattern. It looks great.
Also, your basket is adorable. I love patchwork baskets - and pink.
