Overall alterations

So I accidentally bought the wrong size of a pair of overalls (used, so I can’t return them), and the brand’s website is sold out. I’m probably going to have to take the waist in at least an inch on each side, and a little down the legs. The back is a little baggy, but has a center seam I might be able to work with. Basically, is this too much of an undertaking? Any tips? I expect to have to move the pockets, and take out the side zipper. Thanks for any ideas, and don’t mind the cat hair! :joy_cat:

Is there anyway you can put in darts to take it in where you want? Otherwise, you seriously will be just about remaking them by taking off four pockets and then taking them in at the sides and back.

Maybe try pinning along just before the underarm curves and dart down towards the pockets, losing the points near the top of the pockets in back. Curving them toward the pockets in front as well.

Hmmm. It’s possible! They’re only one size off from what I need them to be. I’ll try them on again and do some pinning to see!

It looks like they already have a lot of seams so it might not even be noticeable. They look comfy and very wearable.

They’re definitely comfortable! Mostly cotton with a bit of spandex, so I think that will work in my favor. I tried them on again, and darts at the back will definitely work. The front looked too weird. I don’t mind taking most of it apart, I figured that would be the case. I’m glad I bought some sewing clips, they’re coming in handy today!
