This chair has been in my house for at least 20 years, it’s the bedroom chair that gets covered in clothes. But it’s losing all the paint. I scored a €5 can of Annie Sloan chalk paint in a charity shop, and since my room has lots of flamingos. I thought I would brighten it up
I added some white, but it’s still a little redder than flamingo pink, and because I’m impatient (and the chair is a bit crappy) I didn’t bother reducing it to bare wood before painting.
And everything needs some gold leaf. It’s pretty bright, but most of the furniture in my bedroom is white, so this strong pop of colour should work..
The first picture is the after, the next is the before.
Oh, it looks so cool now! I think the bright color with the splashes of gold leaf really goes well with the style of the carving. South Asian vibes maybe?
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the space surrounding your chair . What a fun project with a lovely outcome. I love the cheeriness of the color and the addition of the gold!
Gosh, I love this chair. The backrest is so pretty & set off gorgeously by that colour & sparkle. Perfect for your room, just needs a ridiculously fancy seat pad. Maybe with fringe & tassels, go all out!
