The makerspace’s drop-in activity today was painting tote bags, including some for Indiana Youth Group, which supports LGBTQ+ youth in the state. I got really into it and ended up doing four.
Does 3rd down have an auto racing theme? I’m seeing cars facing left across the top. 00 in the center like an abbreviation for the 500 and race tires across the bottom!
Or maybe not?
After reading I went back to look and I can see what you mean. When I originally looked I saw an ‘80s style boombox. It’s like looking at clouds and seeing what comes to mind.
That wasn’t the intention, but I can totally see it. And this is Indiana, so that theme would track (no pun intended). Really, I was just playing with circles in the scraping technique.
I can see that now, too. I probably couldn’t have gotten that close to a boombox if I’d tried to .
These are all going to IYG; I was tempted to do the make-and-take version, but I had to admit to myself that I don’t need any more tote bags .
My understanding is that the bags IYG hands out are for people who’ve been kicked out of home and are going into foster care or couch surfing to carry their belongings. I don’t know whether the group fills them first or just provides the bag; it does have a basic needs pantry as another service, so possibly?
What a fun and thoughtful project! I love that each of us see different things in the shapes. I too like the rainbow-ish horizontal striped one but they all are really neat.
