Painting the Roses Red cards

I made these cards for the galentine’s swap (and a few extra for friends), inspired by the original illustrations in Alice in Wonderland. They are made from paper hand cut from old magazines and calendars in colors that I thought worked with the theme. They are meant to be the Queen of Hearts topiaries in the midst of being painted red by the panicking playing cards. I made playing cards paper dolls to go inside them from cardstock (that I drew on with fine tip sharpie and white gel pen to give a woodblock print look, like the book illustration) and a deck of old playing cards.
