Pajama Shirt to Toy Bag

LittleBookLover enjoys playing certain ‘games.’ One of these games involves him pointing to the wolves pictured on this pajama shirt that he has outgrown and either me or my husband will respond by making a wolf sound. Another one of the games he loves to play is to have us put something (typically a toy) in a bag so he can take it out and have us put it back in the bag, take it out and repeat.
So, I decided to turn this too-small shirt into a bag. I stitched along the edges of the opening and the handles to reinforce the area, but after putting the first toy in it, I realized that I should have just left the edges raw, which would have allowed for more stretch (at least the stitch I used does allow for some). Fortunately, this is a utilitarian bag and I’m not too concerned about the aesthetics of it, so if some of the stitches end up ripping, no big deal.
This project was quick and easy and it was nice to find a way to use up this shirt so that LBL can still have fun with it!

Thank you, all! We’ve gotten some decent use out of the bag today. I am happy to report that the stitches have done a great job of stretching with the fabric. The nice thing with the Jersey material is that it stretches to accommodate a variety of shapes and sizes, so we’ve been putting all kinds of toys in it.
