My kids love D&D, and are already planning for a D&D themed Halloween. I made this paper mache beholder to use as decor. It is quite large. I started with a giant balloon, and made a paper mache sphere. Then I cut a hole in it for the big eye, which is a Tupperware with an eyeball picture and an LED light inside (it lights up and changes color). The eye stalks are made with landscape irrigation tubing that I found in a free pile, and some eyeball patterned plastic balls. They are held together with pipe cleaners, glue, and duct tape. The whole thing is then covered in purple tissue paper and duct tape. I’m actually rather pleased with the result, but it took far longer than I anticipated and I was cursing the eye stalks by the end.
I don’t know anything about a beholder, but this is great! Not sure if it’s supposed to be, but I find it kind of hilarious.

I prefer humor and cuteness in most of my monsters (my kids call it spoot…spooky/cute) so hilarious works. 
This guy is loosely based on Xanathar from one of my kids D&D books…who they say is meant to be scary rather than silly, but he does have a pet goldfish that he is very protective of, so make of that what you will.

Fantastic use of paper mache! The end result is perfect and I love that the eye lights up and can change colors. What a creepy-cute creation!

This. Is. AWESOME! I elect you Queen of D&D decor. Worth the struggle, I think. [Edited due to my own attention deficit. I had made comments about how sad I would be if you let people break it open… and then realized after posting that it’s decor piece and not a piñata. Argh!]
