Pay No Attention to the Coffee Behind the Curtain

My husband got a new single serve coffee brewer for Christmas. This was a good thing because the old one was blowing fuses at least once a week. It was less of a good thing because for some reason the new coffee brewer makes a huge mess. No matter what cup is used coffee splatters everywhere. Anything within a 3 foot radius in the kitchen is now a Pollock painting of coffee spatter. I was not a fan of the new cleaning duties and stains this entailed, so I decided to do something about it. A while ago @Smmarrt kindly sent us some fabric scraps, many of which were Star Wars themed. While much has already been used in various projects, I had the perfect amount of this primarily black Star Wars print to make a coffee curtain (and since I live with a bunch of Star Wars fans it seemed like a good choice). I thought black would be best, so it wouldn’t show the coffee stains. I sewed a wee little curtain a little taller than the height of the opening with elastic on top to hold it in place. It works! No more coffee mess, and my husband reports it is not too annoying to use. The only issue now is remembering he’s already brewed his coffee as it is now hidden away and not in the immediate line of sight. A simple solution to a problem that shouldn’t exist, but first world problems and all that, so I’ll happily live with it.

Way to solve an annoying issue! I like that it looks like there might be something shocking and immodest behind the curtain!
