Plum Branch Tsumami-ga

Most of the time tsumami-zaiku (silk folding technique) is used to make hair accessories called kanzashi. But, you can also use the technique in other ways. This is a small art piece that I made as part of my certification courses to become the first certified tsumami-zaiku teacher in Canada.

I painted the branch of the tree using calligraphy ink. I also made a short video showing some of the creation process for this piece, which you can find here.

I’ve been slow to update Lettuce Craft, but I’ve been working on lots of new things I promise. XD

I’ve seen some kanzashi tutorials on YouTube and they’re lovely. Are you certified tsumami-zaiku teacher in Canada now? :purple_heart:

The International Tsumami-zaiku Association actually has online courses on their website: https://www.tsumami-kanzashi.tokyo/

Although you can take courses in-person in Tokyo as well. I think there’s a free trial lesson on the ITA website.
