Plum Butter Butter Bread

Ok! I wasn’t going to post this as I made this to make a bread pudding for my mom, buuut oh it’s so good. Heh!

in a mixing bowl combine

1 c warm water
2+1/4 tsp yeast
1/3 c plum butter

Let the yeast soften for ten minutes.

8 Tbls. Melted butter (1 stick)
1/2 c milk
4 c. flour (ok! I didn’t measure this out, but it was closer to 5 cups as I knew I’d need a bit more for the extra liquids)
about a teaspoon of salt

Knead, cover, and rise for an hour and a half. Form however you want it, then bake accordingly.

(The dough was closer to the consistency of no-knead dough, and so I didn’t bother with oiling the bowl when letting it rise).

13" pullman, 35 minutes @ 375°
Rolls, 28-32 minutes @ 375°

(For some odd reason I’ve been baking at higher temps, and I just can’t come down,)

Plum Butter

Peel several plums and add about 1+1/2 teaspoons water per plum to a pan. Boil covered til the plums fall apart. Take the lid off and lower the heat and cook til thickened stirring frequently.

Optional: Add a teaspoon of sugar for every two plums to make it a little sweeter.

I was pleasently surprised as to how well the yeast soften with the plum butter. Though, it does look a little off as it’s softening, heh.

I’ll definitely have to make this again. Oof! It’s that good, heh.

Those look so good!

The rolls look so soft and yummy. I don’t know what plum butter is. It sounds simple enough that I could make it.

I can’t believe I forgot that. It’s kind of the unique part of this, as I added no sugar except what’s in the plums.

Anyhoo, it’s just several plums cooked down and thickened. Aaaaaand it just occurred to me, I completely spaced out cooking it down all the way, O_o. Oof!

I’ll try to remember to add it to the recipe.

These look and sound delightful!

And the bread pudding is resting to be baked.

I get my love for bread pudding from my mom, heh. Although I do like a creamy bread pudding, just like her, I love a bready bread pudding, too. It’s all good, :grinning:.

And just like the bread, no white sugar. That comes from the plum butter and blueberries…AAAAAAAAAAAH! I forgot to add the blueberries…:no_mouth:.

Ok! I carefully removed the top layer and mixed in the blueberries,. It’s not as pretty, but meh, it’ll be fine.

OOH! That’s a nice crust.

Ok! I made one for myself, and I can have more sugar so I made a caramel glaze for the top of it. For my erratic taste at the moment, it’s very very bland without the blueberries and caramel, but with them it tastes quite good.

Also, my mom said the one I made for her was good, so yay, heh.
