Pocket For Papa-only Permanent-ink Pens

TheMisterT complains that he can never find a good Sharpie in the drawer when he needs one, so Vivienne got the idea to get him his very own! They came in a 2-pack, so we used a label maker to make sure everyone knows they are only for him.

I used one of the few scraps left from the tote bags I made using his grandmother’s tablecloth and the coordinating checkered fabric from that project to line it.

That’s where the idea for the green bias binding came from. I’m not sure it’s the exact same green as used in the bags, but it is from stash.

That 1/2" double-fold binding was a booger to sew on, so it’s not the tidiest in a few places, but it will work fine crammed into the junk drawer and one can’t expect a 10-month old pup to be that good at sewing!

Just now typing this up, I realized that I forgot to give it a protective spray before wrapping it, so hopefully I will remember after he unwraps it on his birthday.

Great solution to a small, but annoying problem! What a thoughtful gift!

Thanks! I think he’s going to get a big kick out of the labeled pens and a way to keep them easy to find. He’ll be touched to have a piece from the tablecloth, too.

I feel his pain! Constantly on the search for my sharpies!

I gotta say, it’s mostly about 2 things. 1. He doesn’t look that hard and 2. the junk drawer is full to bursting! But there are sharpies in there… always!

Thoughtful to use his grandmas tablecloth scraps, and funny that you labelled them.
