We had trained both Betty and Delia to ring a bell at the door to let us know they needed to go out. We hadn’t really needed it for Delia for the last several years, but it hung on the door getting more and more tattered. Time to replace it!
Vivienne is also shorter than Delia, at least for now, so I made this one to hang a little lower.
It’s made completely from stash! Leather-look upholstery vinyl on the front, fun cork on the back, and a big bell attached using a scrap of 1/4" elastic.

We’ve found that this strap-style works well for not swinging around a lot or getting caught in the door. It also drastically diminishes how much it effects the door finish with the rubbing it will do as a matter of course.
BONUS: She immediately was interested in why I was kneeling on the floor by the front door, but of course was unphotographable checking it out, because this is mostly what was happening.
