Theme is River of dreams. Focussing on how the main water way thru town both divides and brings us together.
I grew up a three minute walk from the river. This is a series of imagined scenes from the
James St Park. Same location. Different times.
Tenatively titled.
The back ground minis used the same landscape layout with slight variations in colours. Thread painting on chiffon overlays… From the natural to the manicured modern, to a less manipulated nature to the likely human destroyed. And thru them all. A Canada Goose flies.
I need to walk way from it before I throw it in the bin. Come back with fresh eyes later.
A couple years back council paid a HUGE amount of money to try to destroy the Canadian goose population. Citing health and safety concerns due to increased numbers (and poop) they went on a campaign of egg destruction and hired a man with a dog to harass the rest. Locals knew it was to make the river “pretty and safe” for visitors.
Hence. The title.
It is always theirs. Here before, here thru all the manmade changes, and will be here when we’ve ruined it all.
