Pumpkin (heads) for Sale 2 for $5

I made a silly Chunky Halloween House for my partner in the recent swap.

Again, I started with a wooden arrow I found at Dollar Tree. I scratched in the boards after I painted the gray. The window is an upside down paper cut-out that someone here sent me that was perfect for this (see? SAVE EVERYTHING! HA!)

The shirt is a piece of vintage fabric that was given to me years ago by a friend who has since passed away. I try to use pieces of her stash in my projects in memory of her love of sewing. I used a piece of plastic skeleton bone under the sleeve.

The pumpkin head is neon acrylic paint. I thought it might glow in the dark, but I think it might be too old. The pumpkins are Dollar Tree picks that I cut in half. Actually, they were a nightmare because they are styrofoam inside and when I cut them, they squished and the paper covering came off! I had to mush them back to shape and re-attach the paper.

I use Distress Ink to age most of my papers. I wet a brush and ā€œpaintā€. The For Sale sign is put on a rib of an old bamboo fan.

The tiny pom poms were part of a grab bag of every color mini pom poms that I bought because they were cute! Glad to be able to use some finally!

Back view. Scrapbook paper and a sticker:

Side view to show 3-D ishness!

I hope more of you will join us next year in this swap. It really is fun and stretches the creative imagination! Happy Halloween! Don’t forget your pumpkins!

Such a great house! I love the overall look and all the details. The fact it includes your friend’s fabric makes it extra special and lovely. Wonderful job!

OH! Yes, I think I may have purchased some from there a few years ago and they were a pain. I can’t remember if I chucked them or ended up using them.

Thank you for posting how you made this house! I like reading about the ā€œbehind the scenesā€ work. Crafty tips are much appreciated!

They are fine as long as you use them as they are. I bought some more this past week, but they are large and a weird cream color. I already have some ideas for the next house!

It might be easier to make them with air dry clay :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

This is so fun and funny!

That is one skill that I do not have. I don’t seem to be able to see in 3-D, so no wood carving, sculpting, pottery, or clay things for me. I have tried. If it is any indication, I was horrible with playdough as a child as well.

Lol, how can you be horrible with Play-Doh? I’m chuckling.

I forgot to post a pic of the arrows I used. I have found all my house bases at Dollar Tree!

I am using the longer ones to do a Christmas village.

@AIMR , what a fabulous use of the arrows! Be sure to post your Christmas village if you can as well! Love seeing these & getting ideas. I have hesitated to join that swap as I have no idea what to put together to make a chunky house!
