Miss Vivienne turned 1 in early July and in the 3rd week of July we hosted her besties (Willow & Koa) while their parents went out of town. When Vivienne stayed with them in May, I called it “Camp WilloKoa” which their people got a kick out of, so I decided to call our place “Camp WilloKoa North” and that we could celebrate Viv’s 1st birthday during their visit.
When the campers were dropped off, I was wearing a camp counselor costume. Hat, camp shirt, khaki shorts. Hair in braids, frog fishing lure earrings, shell necklace and a whistle. Carrying a clipboard.
I strung up this banner I made with stashed woodgrain papers and my Sizzix over the stairs to our front deck.
I made neckerchiefs for all three dogs; small for Vivienne, medium for Willow and Koa. I had some woodgrain in my stash for one side I designed a camp logo to make vinyl iron-ons with my Cricut.
I also had this adorable puppy party print in my stash that I picked up in the final days of JoAnn (RIP). I did a little fussy cutting so a full square would be centered near the “point.”
Boy howdy! Koa and Vivienne (the young ones) never stop moving unless they are sleeping off their chasing, wrasslin’, keep-away-ing, etc. So, photos of all three of them all facing the same way and clearing showing their neckerchiefs was… not happening. Here are a few showing both sides. I mean, who’s going to complain about too many pup pics?
Vivienne went to their house a week after their parents picked them up and Willow and Koa were still wearing them. AWWWWW!
I had also made mini pupcakes, including on big one for the actual birthday party. A recipe I found online with some alterations.
The big one has 3 treats embedded in the top, with frosting between. I cut it in theirs to share among the dogs after we sand happy birthday. A carrot shaving stands in for a candle.
I had hoped that the promise of a treat would get them to all sit facing me at the same time for 5-10 seconds for a pick, but did not happen. We also did this while I had a break from a wood staining project and I made the mistake of not changing my clothes for the photos. D’oh! Apologies.
But we got through the song and divided the pupcake before they decided to go have a faff in the yard, at least!
Finally, I had picked up some stuffies at the thrift store, opened them up to remove as much stuffing as possible and removed the plastic eyes from those that had them, then sewed them up and sanitized them in the washing machine. I had set them aside for the party and dumped them on the deck.
They had fun playing tug and keep-away for the rest of the visit! I sent them home with some of the mini pupcakes when their parents picked them up.
I had to buy a few of the pupcake ingredients and the stuffies, but the rest was all from stash. YEY! We think Viv is pretty much full grown, so I have washed her neckerchief and plan to use the birthday side for all her birthdays.
