I made this many moons ago for a swap on Cster. I cannot, for the life of me, remember what they were called. I searched and found Amish Puzzle Ball or Montessori Ball, but I swear there was another name for them. Does anyone remember? It’s also highly likely that I am simply imagining another fictitious name exists. Lots of us were making them back then, so hopefully someone recalls.
None the less, I found a folder of old projects I made, so I thought I would “move” them over here. 
I sent it as a pin cushion, so it had a set of Shrinky Dink pins with it as well.
In each of the sections, I embedded magnets, so it was a pick up pin cushion.
I do distinctly recall not wanting to give it up.
