Quiltalong - 2022

Decisions, decisions…I think that the crystal ball skulls would be the perfect fussy cut center for a block, and this block just happens to feature an ideal for fussy cutting square in the middle…

@MightyMitochondria sent me this lovely set this morning. Thank you xx

This hypothetical baby quilt is going to be so fab, with contributions from so many friends from around the world.

I love the circus ones.

I’m glad you like the circus ones. I think the monkeys are kind of creepy, but in a cool way.

Just a reminder for everyone, we have a really easy prompt this month and you still have a week to submit your entry!
August Prompt

Ooooh I can do that! I think. If there’s still any untouched stash

Touched or untouched, if it’s part of your stash, it’ll work for this challenge :relaxed:.

If I cut into it, isn’t it technically a WIP? but I’ll take some pictures tomorrow.

Maybe … until it doesn’t progress for several years and then it’s also just stash??? I have a quilt in progress that has done nothing for 7 + years, apparently they don’t make themselves, even after you’ve taught the first blocks.

Anyway, I dug it out of it’s hiding place to see what I need t do to finish it. … A LOT!! But I want to try and get it done.

So, currently both a wip and stash!

The leftover pieces could become scraps and as @tendstowardschaos has shown us many times over, you can end up with a stash of scraps so large you’re able to create multiple projects from it .

Actually, a lot of my stash comes from leftover yardage from previous projects. In which case, for the purposes of this prompt, I suppose I’d describe the project I had originally made with it rather than any current intended purpose .

@Renstar, you should share pics of your stash quilt for the prompt. I’d love to see it!

Since you made me… -I marionberries , offer my stash for August’s prompt. Fabric, paper, stuff. It’s crazy. It’s also a fun hunting ground for “Honey, do you have something that would work for…(name your project”. I’ve actually rearranged my fabric stash and make almost all of my BOMs out of stash, just having to purchase fabric for backing, sashing, or binding sometimes.

P.S. this is the clean view, it is a mess right now, but it is summer and it’s also been a storage room for tools from the porch project.

And this will become placemats for our table & coaster sets for gifts

When I reorganize this

So, not very soon, lol. Between the last of summer’s adventures before the kids are back in school & however long it takes me to sort the mess, I’ll be lucky to get stitching before October.

You’ve all been following the quilt for my mom story. Today I finished tying and added the binding so I can couch potato and stitch. It was hard working over all the blocks I so lovingly pieced while thinking of her joy when she received it, or sat on winter nights with it on her knees…and now she can’t. I am finishing for my sister now, and it adds joy to know she will love it instead.

It’s a beautiful quilt, @marionberries. I’m sure she would be happy that you finished it.

I, tendstowardschaos, offer my stash for August’s prompt.

This is just the majority of my quilting cottons, minus a few pieces of yardage that are bookmarked for other things, and fabric already in the process of becoming quilts.

First, the prints. Some is leftover from other projects, some just impulse buys because I wanted it before it went out of print (like the Bob Ross fabric). I have a fabric collection in there (Neverland) that I will be turning into a quilt. And the panel of General Washington crossing the Delaware will definitely become the focal point of a throw-sized quilt.

I have quite a few 1+ yards cuts in my batik stash, and tons of scraps leftover from DS2’s color wash quilt. I wanted to try one of the patterns from this book that @Magpie recommended.

How about a September scrap-a-thon… We’re we try and bust as much scraps add possible.

Here’s some inspiration, I’m in the Sagrada familia, Gaudi’s cathedral in Barcelona. And the stained glass is just like a scrap quilt.

Wow :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Stained glass church windows are one of my absolute favourite things to look at. Mr Imma is a history geek as well but he gets tired of me wanting to go into every church everywhere to look at the windows. The red window is my favourite.
