Is there a September block? I need to scroll back. I’ve been working on writing up a block pattern, testing it, make an entire quilt out of it for funzies before sharing my pattern, make a quilt block for a guild exchange, have a couple charity tops to finish to turn in to my guild next week and get them off my shelf… so, of course, I found new fabrics to play with and I’m starting 3 (4?) New quilts. Yeah, I really, really need to lock myself down, and focus. Two blocks and one quilt aren’t done because I can’t find my rotary cutter.
Tomorrow I will have finished some things. Lots to do before next Thursday!
Great color choices for your quilts! I like your pattern/layout choice, the extra squares in between the I-Spy squares look to make the quilt a really decent size! When my sister sent a pic of my nephews and niece with their quilts, the boys’ quilts looked small compared to them now that they’ve grown so big and tall!
Thanks! I saw the layout on Pinterest and thought it might lend itself nicely to an I-Spy quilt. I wanted to make it big enough for a twin bed (it’ll be a bit smaller, though, at roughly 60" x 76"), but I didn’t want to have to come up with that many different novelty prints.

I sort of love the waste because they are such random cuts so they lead me to make some pretty cool scrappy pieces! I especially love the longer, skinnier strips!
Yes! I bought two patterns, because I’m not sure which I want to use for my project. I got the heart pattern from Jitka Designs, on Etsy, AND I bought the round gemstone pattern from that same book, directly from the designer on Etsy. You can see the round gemstone in the center of the quilt, on the cover of the book.
My parent’s 45th anniversary is coming up, which is the Sapphire Anniversary. They were married in October of '79, and had me in September of '80, so my birthstone is a sapphire. And it was the early 80’s, and they were fascinated by Charles and Lady Diana. My dad bought mom a copy of Diana’s sapphire ring, and throughout my childhood bought her a few more pieces to match it. My dad has also always been a history buff about several specific things, one being the Titanic. (Seriously, I remember doing a report on the sinking in 4th grade, because I had so many reference books about it at home already.) They both loved the movie Titanic, and mom loved the Celine Dion song, so the heart shaped block is tempting. Heart of the Ocean, Hearts = Love, anniversary, sapphires, etc. But mom isn’t really a hearts kinda person, so I am worried she won’t like the heart block. Hence buying the round block too.
I want to turn the block into a small quilted item, such as a table topper, wall quilt, or pillow. The first idea was table topper, as the rest of their gift is a set of charcuterie-board related goodies to enjoy on their new deck that they tell me about every time they call. I got a set of blue recycled wine glasses, and a blue slumped bottle recycled cheese board, and some snacks in blue packaging. But I’m worried they won’t want to use it as a table topper, for fear of spilling stuff on it.
