Just went through the list to double check, and I got a Bingo! It was probably a while back, but just discovered today. I kept track of what project I was counting as having completed that call. If I’ve made a mistake, please don’t hesitate to correct me!
I finished the top of my Halloween quilt and my bunny quilt thanks this Quiltalong! I am going to put completing them for my 2nd quarter goal since I am so close!
I also made a quilted something but it is for a swap so I can’t show it until next quarter. I’ll check my BINGO cards tomorrow because I really did quite a few of the prompts!
Looking forward to another round next quarter! I have a few quilts to finish and a few to start as well as a bunch of little projects.
I loved all the posts this quarter! You guys are the best!
Awhile ago, I purchased some embroidered monthly mini quilt designs. I also picked up all the fabric as well as the embellishment kits to create these monthly quilts.
I decided to create 2 of each quilt. I’m going to keep one set for myself and gift the other set - probably to my mom. My big plan is to give the January quilt as a Christmas gift. Then at the end of January, I’ll send the February quilt along with a little note saying something along the lines of, ‘Oh, did I forget to mention? This is a monthly quilt set.’ And each month through the end of the year, the recipient will receive a new quilt in the mail. But of course, in order to put such a plan in motion, I really need to buckle down on making these mini quilts.
I had hoped to basically complete a quilt a month, but so far, I’ve only managed to finish the January quilts (and haven’t even started on February). At the rate of 1/quarter, it will be 3 years before they’re completed. So, if some of you speedy quilters can please send a little of that speed my way, I’d really appreciate it .
Here is January’s quilt:
I’ve had it mostly finished for a little bit, but I just finally got the embellishments (the beanie pompoms and the buttons) attached today (just in time to get a bingo!). When I went to sew the snowman blocks together, I used my own layout rather than following the directions and soon realized that that was a mistake when I went to sew the binding on and discovered that the snowman hands would get cut off. But rather than fix it, I decided to just deal with it, lol. Follow instructions - lesson learned. I made the hanging pockets so that the quilt can either be hung on a wall, or hung from a quilt hanger.
The other January quilt looks the same as this one, it just doesn’t have a label on the back yet (for the sake of the surprise of monthly quilts).
BINGO!!
Complete one of your monthly goals - I created labels for the January-June mini quilts:
Create a post sharing your favorite project - post about the Candy Corn Quilt Shoppe quilts
FREE SPACE
Complete a quarterly challenge - finished my Holly Jolly quilt
Create a quilted gift for someone else - the second January mini quilt
Congratulations to @EclecticDreamer, @Edel, @MistressJennie (and probably @AIMR) on your bingos! Please pm me with your name and address (except EclecticDreamer).
If anyone else got a bingo or earned a total of 7 points (points info) this quarter, please send me a message as well! I am excited to get the Quilting Friends prize packs sent out!
Round 2 of Quiltalong Bingo will be starting soon! Tomorrow is going to be a busy day for me, so I don’t know if I’ll be able to get to it then, but I will have the Round 2 bingo card generator up and running soon.
Your snowmmies quilt is just adorable! I really need to make some smaller quilts!
With all you do, I can see that making a monthly mini could still be a tough goal, but look at it as time for you to do what you love!! (and do so well!)
I bet this is one of the more active craftalongs, so we appreciate all your hard work!
Your January mini quilts came out amazing!
Thought for you: If you’re having trouble finishing a quilt a month, and you already know that, what about planning for that in your creation? Instead of moving on to February, and only finishing it in perhaps April, what if you jumped to the next season of the year, like a Spring (March or April) quilt, then doing a summer (June or July), then an autumn (Sept or Oct) quilt? Finishing 4 (really 8) of these in a year might be a more manageable goal, and your recipient would get a quilt for each season. THEN, if you’re able to get ahead, you could start filling in more of the months (or favorite holidays). If you aren’t able to completely catch up in 2025, you could still keep doing them next year without really being “behind”. You’d just be filling in more of the year, and still surprising your mom.
Jennie, you’re a genius!! This is the perfect solution! Seriously, what would I do without this group? Thank you!
April is here and not only is it bringing showers for the May flowers, but it has brought about a new quarter as well!
Quarter 2 Challenge
(April 1 - June 30)
Tackle a project that has been on your “To-Do List” for at least 6 months.
We all have those projects that we’ve considered making, but just haven’t gotten around to yet. Or, maybe you have already managed to start it. Either way, if you have had a project on either your mental or written to-do list, and it’s been on said list for at least 6 months, it qualifies for this challenge. Now’s the time to complete that project and check it off your list!
April Prompt:
Inspired by:
Spring, the people around you, or your state or national flower.
April BOM:
Mosaic Block - nominated by @Edel
Goal List:
Please share your second quarter goals with us. You can earn a ticket for every goal you share and complete!
Every Quiltalong participant will once again have the opportunity to win a prize this quarter! This quarter’s prize pack will be the Maker/Destructor Bundle. You can win a prize by either earning a total of 7 points this quarter OR by getting a bingo. All info on how to earn points can be found in this post.
The fun continues into the second quarter with another round of Quiltalong Bingo!!
To play:
- Each Quiltalong member can play with up to 2 Bingo cards
- Generate your Bingo cards here
- Post your Bingo cards in a new thread once they’ve been created
- Each Wednesday I will call out a Bingo prompt (all of which will be recorded in this thread)
- Bingo prompts must be completed during the second quarter (April 1 - June 30)
- Every quilter who gets a Bingo (5 marked squares in a row - across/down/ or diagonal) will get a prize at the end of the quarter
- The first quilter to get a Bingo will win an extra prize (so make sure to call out your Bingo as soon as you get it!)
- You can complete prompts before or after they are called, but you can only mark a prompt once it has been called
Alright! Let’s get this second quarter of bingo started!
Our first prompt this quarter is:
Finish a WIP
I will leave last quarter’s bingo prompts and the player links to their first quarter bingo cards listed until next Wednesday.
“if you have had a project on either your mental or written to-do list, and it’s been on said list for at least 6 months”
HAHAHA… do I ever!
Oh, I definitely have this project. I think I started it around May time last year and am onto the (hand) quilting stage. It takes so long for me to complete these projects.
Well, I missed BINGO by one square in every direction! ha
But, I counted at least 14 points this quarter for the projects and prompts!
The only goal I didn’t even get close to was starting my Colorwheel quilt, so it will go on this quarter. I only have to finish my Halloween and Bunny quilt, but at least the tops are done and I got the fabrics I needed to finish them in my last trip to Joann’s
A friend and I went to the Festival of Quilts this morning. In bad news, we didn’t get to see my quilts. In good news, that’s because they both sold yesterday!
Woohoo! Of course they sold
Woah that is AMAZING!!!
