Guys, I need you all to cross your fingers for me. I’m going in for new x-rays and a post op checkup with the Orthopedist today (in addition to PT). If all goes well I’ll either get released from my brace, or get to start weaning off of it. Last week at PT, they measured my range of motion and I had gotten 20 degrees more back bend on the wrist, and 30 degrees more rotation! I want to ditch the brace and start quilting again!
The numbers from last week were compared to two weeks previous to that. (Somehow we missed measurements in the in-between week.) But everything went well, and I’m free from my brace! (Or allowed to wean myself off, as needed for the next week or so.) I’ll probably still sleep with it a few more nights, because I tend to contort my wrists under my chin while sleeping. But I’ll try to see if I can just go without it during the day if possible. I’m so excited!
Thank you all for being my cheering section during this. I’m hoping I wasn’t too much of a misery about the whole thing. You really did all make me feel better while healing.
I realized as I was leaving my PT appointment yesterday, that I would really like to make a Thank You gift for my Physical Therapist. She’s helped me get mobility back, but she’s also just a good human that I’ve enjoyed visiting and talking with while we work, and could see myself being friends with. (My doctor and surgeon were perfectly nice, but visits were brief and impersonal.) My PT specializes in working with people who have hand trauma, so I went looking for a fabric that includes hands, but hopefully isn’t too cheesy.
I found this print , called Helping Hands from Art Gallery Fabrics. It seems subtle, and could be paired with some coordinate colors easily.
The question now, is what do I make for her? My first thought was a quilted tote bag, but I’m open to other ideas. What do you guys think? Any patterns you love, that go together easily, but look impressive? Like pouches, bags, baskets, covers, etc. Any projects you’ve made that people seem to really use and love?
I plan on playing Bingo this quarter. I am on my work computer and it wouldn’t let me go to the link so I did a screenshot on my phone and added it to my goals list.
You could do a tote bag with a coordinated cup cozy thingee for a travel coffee. Does she travel from location to location? Then something for the car would be appreciated. An avid reader? Then a “kindle” cover or book protector with bookmark could be nice. Has she mentioned traveling for fun? Perhaps a sleep mask and toiletries bag. Does she admit to being an icecream lover? Pint cozies have always brought a smile to my peeps.

I’ve had a lot of requests for roll up tote bags. I do think most people like totes or zippered bags. They are practical and ones made of cute fabric make them feel special. I love that fabric for her…it seems to be a perfect match!

@AudiobookLover When you get a chance, you need to post what you made for the 2nd quarter prize! I think everything about the entire package was fabulous!
Thanks to you, I have purchased some cork fabrics to make some things for Christmas gifts. I love how creative you are in making everything go together so nicely!
-I MistressJennie , offer Scrappy Mug Rugs for July’s prompt (I can’t enjoy a good book, without a good cup of tea. Hence Mug Rugs for ‘book’ challenge.)
AND -I MistressJennie , submit “Make & post 5 scrappy Mug Rugs for my Allerton class” for my goal list entry.
The potholders were all pieced and quilted. They just needed binding and hanging loops. They have been sitting in my desk, guilting me for a few months now. Glad to have them done.
