I used one of the fat quarters that came with the kit plus leftovers from the center cut to make the backing. It looks red in the pictures, but the binding is actually fuschia Kona that I had in my stash. I sewed the binding on the back by hand.
If this looks familiar, well, @AudiobookLover and I picked the same kits for the Mystery Quiltalong!
I was hoping to get the BOM for Sept done but I am making a bigger project similar to the one that @LittleCogs made with the Manx blocks, so itās a bit more work for me to pick fabrics than my usual blue and white blocks. I should have it mostly done by the end of the week.
Bingo prompt. Link or pic of your fav quilting merchandise.
I donāt know if this counts as merchandise, but I do know that IKEA also sells peg boards-this was reclaimed from a salvage yard. But I canāt tell you how much I love having all my rulers out and accessible
Iāve been doing more quilt adjacent work today. In the last two weeks, I have had my first solo art exhibition, I threw a party at home for 50 people for my husbandās birthday/retirement and I lost my brother.
To say I am weary is an understatement, so this week is rest (between lectures). Somehow this rest translated into pulling out all the quilt patterns that Iāve printed and putting them into these folders. Much better now, because I am more likely to flip through them, and I added a reminder on the front

Sometimes the most mundane tasks in life help us feel more grounded and in control. I love your pegboard organization. Also, what a great idea for your quilt patterns.
Today is the final day of our business. After 26 years, it feels weird that it just goes away. I still have some tax stuff to take care of over the next few months, but there is no physical place, no client calls, no co-workers. After PT today, I think some organization will help me as well.
Take care, friend. You have had a lot on your shoulders.
Goodness, today is huge for you. I hope youāve some joyous activities planned for the next while. And that you take time to reflect on how youāve created employment for people, helped clients and generally been a force for good x
Iām so glad you posted this! It looks great (though that kinda feels like Iām complimenting myself since ours were so similar ). I like how you pieced together the backing.
@Edel, I love how well organized your rulers are. Thereās been a lot going on for you these past few weeks. Iām glad you have some time to rest. Please take care of yourself .
Welcome to the month of October and the start of a new quarter!
Fourth Quarter Challenge:
Quilt something using your favorite fabric (this can be your favorite of the fabrics you have in stash or maybe you can use this as your reason for purchasing your ultimate āgotta have itā fabric). If you have multiple favorites, you have more options. If you donāt have a favorite, then just use a fabric that you really like. The basic point of this challenge is to āUse the good stuff,ā as @Edel would say.
Goal List:
New quarter, new goals (or if youāre like me, the same olā goals, but a desire to finish them this quarter). Please share your quarterly goals with us. Remember, you earn a point toward a prize for every goal you complete (7 points total will get you a prize!).
October Prompt: Inspired by:
A monochromatic color palette, text, or new skills.

I love the new blocks! Working on my Manx blocks so I will be making a new goal list.
Did I tell you that my husband found a bin that had ,erhm, 20 or more unfinished quilt tops? I had totally forgotten about them because I have another 10 or so in my craft room. I guess I need to determine if I am going to finish them or let them go. 30 unfinished quilt tops (or more!)ā¦yikes.
Third quarter wrap up:
I am aware of three quilters who are eligible for a third quarter prize (by having completed a Bingo and/or earning 7 points throughout the quarter) - @AIMR, @MistressJennie, and @LittleCogs.
If anyone else has earned 7 points, please let me know. Also, check your bingo cards to see if youāre a winner. All of the third quarter bingo prompts can be found here. All prize claims need to be made by Tuesday, October 7th. After that, I will delete the third quarter bingo prompts.
And now, onto the fourth quarter Bingo! This quarter includes prompts to help maximize the enjoyment of quilting (ie. wear a cozy outfit or enjoy your favorite beverage while quilting).
We will have Bingo calls on Wednesdays with a few additional holidays mixed in as well. You can view the schedule in the link below.
Each Quiltalong member can play with up to 2 Bingo cards
Is there an app or site that can help you see how fabrics will look with different quilt patterns? I got some fabric for my sister, but now i am torn on which pattern to use.
I almost, but didnāt get a bingo this quarter, but then my sewing machine is looking balefully at me as she gathers dust. However I did restart a WIP this week, so thatās good.
Thanks for the heads up! Those were the correct cards, I had just forgotten to update them to say Q4. I have updated it, so the link should now say Q4.
Fourth Quarter Goals
-Finish cleaning my studio
-Complete the WIP Mug Rug on my table
-Set up kits for the Mug Rug class I will be teaching in November
-Make an Upscale Plaid quilt top
-Quilt and bind the Upscale Plaid quilt for my dad for Christmas
-Use up the one panel in my stash to make an improv Harry Potter quilt
-Pick some fabrics and do at least 1 missed BOM from this year
-Make a wall or art quilt for my entryway door
I have a few other large goals, but they arenāt quilt-related. Namely making my daughterās Halloween costume, as well as matching ones for Jim & I (Ada & I will be dragons, and Jim will be a wizard). Finish fixing a pair of silk pants, and making a pillow out of one of Adaās favorite outgrown sweatshirts.
