Quilting and thread question

Has anyone used machine embroidery thread to quilt with?

I may have had a midnight run in with an 8 pack of glow in the dark machine embroidery thread that was too good a deal to pass up. And I’m a sucker for glow in the dark everything.

I think it will be awesome for Halloween quilts. Anyone know if I’m setting myself up for failure or if I’m an inspired genius?

I don’t know either but I can’t wait to see what you do with this!

(I’m voting for inspired genius.)

I know @Cindy has used glow in the dark something or other, maybe it’s that…

Most definitely you can. Machine embroidery thread is thinner but still strong for machine quilting. Just be sure to use a good needle. I have used metallic embroidery thread as well.

Sounds reasonable to me-- I have not used my glow embroidery thread with my regular sewing machine, but only because it’s on too big a spool & I haven’t actually got a good feed set-up for it.

I look forward to seeing the fun you have with this!

I have used machine embroidery thread for quilting with no issues. Just be sure to check the tension, I had to adjust mine slightly.

@AntBee is correct, I’ve also used glow-in-the-dark thread for sewing and quilting.
