I made these two 5x7" watercolor paintings for the recent Grab Bag swap. So often when I paint I get caught up in the little details, obsessing, reworking. With these two I tried to be a bit more free and loose. I wanted something that’s just pretty and calm. And because my inner niffler is always present, they needed a bit of shine so I finished each with metallic ink.
With the blue, I went a bit bonkers with the tiny details but I love the end effect.
With the warm toned piece I was more successful at embracing simplicity.
