I have been modifying some of my wrap skirts to summer length and to a velcro closure instead of ties. So much easier to put on! Last year, I shortened my cotton ones from below the knee to above the knee. I was not wearing the longer skirts, and I liked to wear them in hot weather. This year, I cut the ties off, shortened the wrap to just cross over the front side-to-side, and added strong velcro. Don’t need the skirt to pop open!
This is the skirt that was my first find in the old site years ago. I was searching for interesting wrap skirt ideas, and a link to this skirt came up. I discovered the joys of the old site and fell in love with you all.
The pattern was called a J-Skirt, and I drafted it from rough drawings from the post. I used curtains from Christmas Tree Shop, a navy sheet, and a purchased fabric. It was below the knee length and had a wonderful swirl to it. I still love it, though the curtain fabric was cheap cotton and is getting a little worn.
The “J” shape is in three parts, which makes it fun to mix fabrics, and is repeated around the skirt for as many panels as you need. I think I still have the pattern, but I can’t find it at the moment.
