Retirement card in purple

My colleague retired from work today, after 31 years working for our employer. Since covid e-cards have become the norm, as so many of us have not really gone back into the office, not on any sort of regular basis. However the combination of an in-person leaving lunch and such a long time working there, I thought a real card was the only option here.

This is what I came up with, I was so pleased with the end result, except that I didn’t leave enough room for a message on the front. I had created a small tag, it just said “happy retirement”, which I ended up sticking inside.

I also had to make a simple box envelope, as this was about 2.5cm deep

Everyone that signed it commented on how lovely it was :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:, but more importantly, my colleague loved it

Wow, what a beauty of a card! I like that you included the feathers. Do you do flower arranging in real life as well? Is everything glued? I’m so curious about it!

Sorry for the delayed response, not managed to get online much in the last few weeks!

I have never done any formal flower arranging, but I do play around with a bunch of flowers for some time until I am happy with them

Yes, they are all glued down, there is some weight to the card! They can take a full 24 hours to dry completely.

I start by pulling everything out in the right colourway (I have one of the Ikea Kallax storage boxes full of silk flowers :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:) and play around with them until I have an idea of what I want to include. I then start with the stems and the greenery before layering the flowers on top. The bow is always the last thing I add
