A long long time ago, my dad had planted a pear tree, but I don’t what species/hybrid, they are almost impossible to eat. Even when fully ripe.
Well, I went over and charged my mom’s van for her and I decided to pick some to boil. I figure I could make gnocchi, or anything else that might come to me. Heh, after boiling a couple, I realized that most of those ideas were pointless, heh. These things do not get that soft. Soft enough for me to eat without teeth, but not soft enough for gnocchi. So I decided to boil them til they were fine for me to munch on for breakfast, or whatever.
I’ll be able to pop one of these out of the freezer before bed, and have something tasty to eat in the morning. I only added a little bit of sugar to help bring out the flavor of the pears, as these ones are not that sweet. Flavorful, just not sweet.
Could be. Hard to find pictures of them, as they are fairly irregular and looks like people only want to show pictures of pears on the internet that look like pears, . I was able to find some pictures that showed them on trees, and they do look similar. These can get quite large, but very irregular shaped.
Forgot I had taken a picture of them and was going to post with this.
Reading a little bit on the Keifer variety, looks like they only ripen after a good freeze, so maybe that’s why I never seen them edible. I’d have to go to my mom’s at the perfect time, heh.
At least they taste good after the boiling. Oh my word, I reverted to my younger self drinking the juice off of canned pears, heh. I think I may do that with the last few I have. Just make pear juice with them, .
