Sakura Densha Bookend Kit

A while back, a friend and I each bought a craft kit to make diorama bookends. We both knew we wouldn’t have the motivation to work on them by ourselves, so we got together about once a month to work on them and after three or four day-long sessions, I finally finished mine! It’s a cute scene of a Kyoto street along a river with a train in the background, and it even lights up! I love it!

There were SO MANY tiny pieces to put together, and they were very tiny and fiddly, but quite satisfying to put together, especially since I had friendly company who was working on his own kit at the same time! His isn’t done yet, since it required a ton of painting and waiting for that paint to dry (he’s doing a more western-looking adorable sunny scene). But he’ll keep working on it at my place and keeping me company while I scrapbook until he finishes his, so that’s still a win-win!

Here are a few photos from our first session for this project:

Aaand, only an hour or two into our fourth session, I finished it!
