The Santa & Mrs. Claus ornaments were the primary present for my mom. I did buy/use the patterns by mmmcrafts on etsy. But I’m a rebel and did not buy wool felt and used the acrylic felt I had (it wasn’t a problem because I did get this set of craft felt that’s actually denser than what you normally get, so it didn’t pull apart when stitching along the edges). I also did not buy sulky to print and transfer the embroidery patterns, just did them by eye. And I used rhinestones instead of sequins and seed beads because that’s what they had at the local Dollar General. I decorated Mrs. Claus’s present to Santa to be striped, and made the Candy Cane and mistletoe for Santa out of sculpy.
Super adorable! I like that you went with more economical options for your supplies. They look great! This sort of craft is one of my favorites. I really want to do some next year that are Christmas Carol themed.
They were sort of a more laid back thing for me, too, because I could work on it while sitting on the couch watching tv, instead of on my feet or at my sewing table in my sewing room. Sort of easier to get myself working on them. Highly recommend low-key relaxing in the evening crafts!
I wouldn’t be intimidated by the “ornateness” of the patterns. The stitching is just basic running stitch and backstitch, nothing fancier, easy and fun and they look great!
So cute! I have eyed these patterns myself and love seeing some done “in the wild”! Lately, I have been considering adding Mrs. Clauses to my Santa “collection” for holiday decorating which fights against the desire to slow my roll in accumulating more holiday decorations. You’re helping/not helping!
I have also eyed these on etsy and I love seeing your version. They came out wonderfully!
Your addition of the rhinestones seems like a great way to save time without sacrificing any of the beauty of this project. And ever since you previously mentioned using acrylic felt vs buying expensive wool felt since ornaments don’t get a lot of wear and tear, it’s helped change my mindset of needing the fancy felt. So, thank you for sharing your insights!
