Sashiko coaster set

I’ve always liked the idea of embroidery, but it’s never quite grabbed me. Perhaps because I don’t tend to like the themes I see the most in embroidery like flowers and lighter colors. So it doesn’t surprise me much that Sashiko is what got me to dip a toe in with its dark colors, high contrast, and geometric patterns.

Anyway, it’s fun! I turned these 4 stitch samples into coasters with galaxy backing fabric. I actually think they looked better before the top stitching, but live and learn!

You continue to find great uses for that fat quarter and the sashiko looks fantastic!

 Yeah, I’m about halfway through it now.

Nice! I also like sashiko because of the repetitive patterns. I bet you would love chicken scratch embroidery. Google it and if you are interested, I have way more gingham fabric than I can ever use that I would be happy to mail for you to use!

That does look interesting and more geometric. No need to rush me supplies, though. My WIP list is already intimidating and threatening to become sentient and fight back. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

These are great!
I believe I have a kit I got years ago…
Maybe I’ll break it out this fall and give it a go!
