Saskatchewan Summer Hair Pin

Moving into my summer time pieces, this is a special one for me - it features plants that are local to where I live in Saskatchewan, Canada. The star of the show is a bright orange and yellow prairie lily, which is the provicincial flower, stalks of wheat, and saskatoon berries with white saskatoon berry flowers.

I got to used a series of techniques for this piece - wirework + silk, wirework + beads, wirework + mizuhiki and of course my favorite tsumami zaiku silk folding. It was a really satisfying project to work on because of the variety of techniques I got to use.

This piece is mounted on a long gold tone u-pin.
