Scandinavian Print Dress

I finally finished this dress-overdress combo. I think it might be my fifth or sixth dress with this pattern: an shirtdress and an overdress.

The shirtdress is Simplicity 2246 view C. The overdress is my own pattern drafted based on the shirtdress pattern (with pockets added in).

The red fabric is American Made brand (the 100% US-produced fabric, from cotton grown in US to the end milling).

I love Scandinavian folk designs, and have had this fabric in my stash for a long time. It’s kind of Christmas… or maybe just winter?

Two (or more!) outfits in one!

That winter print over dress will work with a lot of things you already have!

Do you make the majority of your clothes? I like seeing the things you make!

My “wardrobe” is probably 1/3 items I made, 1/3 hand-me-down/thrifted, and 1/3 ready-made (purchased new).

Super cute! And that belt is the perfect shade of red, too!

Scandinavian folk designs are super lovely, I agree. You look great in this! I think the under-dress by itself is really pretty as well.

Your dress(es) look really good! Nice colour, nice print, nice fit.

I hadn’t thought of making an under- and overdress combination before but that would be a comfy and warm extra layer in winter. And you can even mix and match them for even more variety.

An over and under dress is really cool! I have not seen that. Sometimes I’ll pair leggings and a shrug with my dresses, but I hadn’t thought of this.
I love a poof sleeve and you matched the belt perfectly! Everything looks great together. Awesome!
