I’ve been meaning to do this for a while. I’ve been trying to class up some of my sleeveless (sleeves hacked off) t-shirts. This one matched this cotton/wool blend scarf. It’s an interesting look. The t-shirt was from a volunteer event at a junior college I was taking art classes at for fun. Botanical Drawing class was held in the horticulture building so I was volunteering at the horticulture department’s event. Fun memories. The scarf was a gift from my mom but I never knew what to do with it…

I was so utterly confused by the post title, and then as soon as I saw your photos I went “OH! That’s BRILLIANT!” I absolutely prefer knit/jersey fabric tops, but I don’t always want to look like I’m wearing a T-shirt. This is such a creative way to get extra color/life/movement/elegance/whimsy onto something both functional and comfy. Although, yes, please let us know how the first wash goes…?
I have a couple large scarves right now that I love pattern-wise, but they are too much fabric for me to deal with under most circumstances. Cutting a couple down for sleeves would still leave me more than enough to make a cute headband or kerchief. May I please ask what physical shape you cut the scarf pieces into to get the lovely drape you did?
I just cut the square scarf in half length wise. It was relatively small.
This one was easy, I have some other strangely shaped or sized scarves for other shirts that I still need to work out the cutting details on. I sewed the scarf to the sleeve hole and then seamed down the rest of the extra cut edge to make an actual closed sleeve.
I’ll update with the laundry day outcome! I am a little nervous about that part now, but I think I have an idea.
Neat! Thank you. There are definitely times when it’s so much easier to do just a bit of hand sewing in a weird or fiddly place, or when you’re kind of winging placement/shaping for something that isn’t form-fitting. I definitely do the same thing!

It is very flattering and definitely jazzes up the tee!
I also have some beautiful scarves but I am just not a scarf wearer unless it is for a kerchief or sash. Better to cut them up than to let them sit in the closet. Thanks for sharing this…I am still trying to wrap my head around how you did this, so be prepared for questions!
