@AIMR hey lady, wouldn’t you love a chance to sift through your fabric stash, touch all the prettiest, put the scissors to the cotton?
awww, thanks for thinking of me, but I really don’t want to receive any more scraps. That being said, I would be happy to send to you or anyone who would like pieces of my stash! ![]()
Ok, no one came out of the woodwork to say they were still joining us, so the swap signups are officially CLOSED.
I did partner everyone, and partners are listed in the second post of the thread. However, my child is “officially done with waiting” for me to be finished with “boring Mama stuff”, so I’m taking a break for a family movie. I’ll be back to send questionnaires later this afternoon.
I was just reading the swap requirements again, and somewhere in my brain I stored the information that a handmade card was included, but on reading it again, it’s not, right? Sending inside a card is the safest way of sending fabric (or tea), but technically, the swap only includes 3 or 12 squares of fabric right?
Right. Just fabrics, sent in a card for safety. No handmade card required, especially as that would take up valuable weight.
Ok, an insane number of questionnaires have been sent out for this swap. If you somehow didn’t receive yours, let me know!
Thanks for sending it so fast! It’s bedtime here in Europe, but what I did tonight is gather 8 envelopes and write all the Q’s out on sticky notes that will go on each envelope, so I can get my fabric bin tomorrow morning and start cutting!
Hello partners!
Family is over this weekend but I have Monday off to sort, cut, package & post!
I had a good dig through my stash today, and have already cut about half, but I have clearly used up way more stash than I thought I had!! When I read through the Q’s, some people put very specific themes in that I thought I had in stash, but they’re gone! Insert sad trombone sound ![]()
I still have plenty of stash left so I will certainly get those envelopes filled.
Fast send out, thank you. I have to get to cutting and sorting through the orphan charm pack bin. Tiny bin, but still a bin.
I have a pile of fun fabric ready to be cut!
That’s super smart and I am stealing that idea.
Yeah, I do that each time we do this swap. It helps a lot.
I sent out the first three envelopes today! We can send much less weight in one envelope (20 gram) so I was able to send the required squares, but no extra’s and folded the fabric in a letter instead of a card to save on weight.
It was quite hard picking only 3 / 12. In previous fabric swaps, we sent more fabric, so in case of doubt, I just included both options. Now I had to choose.
I spent the afternoon fussy-cutting several fabrics that I got in a 1/2 pound scrap bundle from Art Gallery Fabrics a year or so ago. It felt nice to “use the good stuff”!
ears perk up at “scraps”
I need an intervention haha
I’m stealing this idea, too! I was momentarily overwhelmed
Yesterday I started by going through my 5" and 2.5" squares bin, and put stuff beside each partner’s post-it note. Then I got concerned that I might have sent folks some of these fabrics before, because they’ve been in my stash. So, I pulled out the chunks from the scrap-bundle order, and chopped those up, and placed more beside each name. After that, I went through my recently-used scraps, that needed to be processed anyways, and cut those down, and assigned a few more squares to each person. Today I decided to check my fat quarter bins, and I picked out 5 that I want to cut a strip off of, and have those on the ironing board to do this afternoon.
The only problem is, I am way over the number of squares I can mail per person, and I can actually fit 5 Charms or 20 Mini Charms in each of my envelopes, within the weight limit. But I want to share fabrics, and brighten my friends days. So I might send everyone two envelopes!
I have plenty of domestic postage stamps to do that, but I would need to pick up another sheet of International. Which really, I don’t have a problem with. ![]()
All of my packages have more, I got cutting and stacking and it just happened, I did keep all but 2 envelopes under 30g.
All of my envelopes over stamped.
Let’s hope there’s no postal drama.
Like oh. You want 1.75… Here’s an extra 51 cent stamp.
I can’t find any rotary cutters here wth. Just happily hacking out 6ish” squares, I’ll properly size them when I get to a store once we’re back in the city. I am doing themed collections! I thought I would just stack & whack but nope. The treasure that is my fabric collection, sigh. It’s too much fun sorting through.
