Oh good!
Iām sorry Iāll have to miss this, trying to stave off burnout at work means Iām saying no to a lot. I eagerly anticipate the gallery though!
I just sent out partners info. Sorry, I meant to send out last night completely forgot. I canāt wait to see what everyone comes up with for this swap!
No worries!
Seeing my partners list cohh!i forgot those creatures existed" and suddenly my own list is so boring haha
Check in question for the week:
Do you have a favorite beach you have visited in the past?
Mine is the Driftwood beach in Jeklly Island in Georgia. Iāve lived in Korea, Japan and Germany, but my favorite, so far is Driftwood beach.
Here is a link to their website: Driftwood Beach
You can add any info you like! I have the small item locked in, but still daydreaming about the medium!
I guess it would have to be Myrtle Beach, since thatās pretty much the only one Iāve been to that I remember. We went there every year for spring break with my church youth group. I did go to San Diego for my cousinās wedding and touched the Pacific Ocean just to say that I have, but the beach itself was unremarkable and crowded. And I went to Florida when I was three but I barely remember that.
I live near a few rivers and lakes, but have seldom been to ocean beaches. I guess my favorite is Lincoln City on the Pacific Ocean because itās the only one Iāve been to recently. I donāt even know if the beach had a name, as I stopped for 30 minutes or an hour while on my way from visiting friend A to visiting friend B. I came home with a couple shells (they sadly cracked) and some hag stones.
I donāt remember what the beach is called but Iāll always remember this tucked away beach on St. Johnās Island where literally 5 feet off the shore where the water is like 3 feet deep there was a coral reef on a rock and I didnāt have to even go snorkeling any further. I could just sit there in the water for hours and watch all the little creatures.
I donāt have a great memory but I remember this from when I was a teen. My mom had stand-by air access when I was a kid so we had super cheap trips to the Virgin Islands by camping on St. Johnās. Very interesting experience since most people stay in hotels.
One night we were coming back from the beach and a crab was unzipping our tent.
Same trip I got second degree burns from the sun over the entirety of the front of my legs. The very first day I was there. Very painful but I didnāt let it stop me from enjoying things. When I got home the doctor gave me burn cream to put on my legs for an hour at a time that you had to put on about a centimeter thick. It was an interesting experience as well. ![]()
Iāve never been able to collect stones with the natural holes. Weāve picked the usual seashells and sand dollars. When I lived in Japan, our house was a 5 minute walk to the beach and we were able to find sea glass there.
Iāve been to Myrtle beach and that was nice too!
Ouch! That burn sounds awful! I would have been startled if a crab was unzipping my camping tent!
It was verrry painful. I didnāt know a burn could do what it did. When I was walking the pain would shoot up my legs like I was being electrocuted. Very weird.
Oh and at night the land crabs all come out and just swarm the surrounding forrest so if youāre walking back to your tent at night you have to like, shuffle your way through many large crabs walking with you. These crabs are a gross sickly yellow color so itās way creepier than if they were all red for some reason. Lol
Weekly check in question: What is your favorite aquarium you have visited?
Mine is the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. Google Search
Iāve visited a couple times in past when I used to live in Savannah.
Omg donāt they have a whale shark?! I really want to go!
My favorite is Montoray in California but I mostly only remember the ocean sunfish and jellies. I just really loved seeing those. The sunfish just changed my whole perspective on life. I guess they donāt have the sunfish anymore though. want to go again because they have DEEP SEA STUFF NOW. Not as much as they originally did but how many people get to see that,?!
So with one that I do remember more itās Ocean of the Pacific in California. They have so much to look at. I love that they have stuff I havenāt seen before like live sand dollars. I didnāt know what they looked like alive! They are weird little creatures. Obviously thereās more than that but itās what I can think of at the moment.
We have an aquarium in Minnesota and itās kind of notable but also kind of run down. Itās called Sea Life. Itās in the Mall of America and itās cool because you go through a tube through most of the exhibits so you can look up and all over and the fish are swimming over the top and whatnot. They stopped letting people touch at the touch tank though. Like??? Why??? I still recommend going though. Iām not sure if other states have aquariums like this?
At one point they did a new exhibit and had a bunch of different jellies, some big spider crabs, a cuttlefish, and some other stuff which was really exciting but now all they have left are moon jellies.
Last time we were there (last year) they just randomly picked me and my partner to come feed the turtles which was great because we really needed a pick-me-up since our dog died and we were trying to get our mind off it a bit. It was just too heavy to keep wallowing. We needed a break. So it was really nice.
Yes! There were whale sharks and beluga whale at the GA Aquarium. We plan on going to visit the one in Denver this summer. That one on Montoray looks pretty awesome!
We used to have a membership to the Denver aquarium. It was pretty fun, but my favorite part was feeding the stingrays ![]()
I donāt think Iāve ever been to an aquarium. Closest would be Cabellas live fish tank. I used to love watching live baluga whale cam a vendor had linked to their website. After discovering it Iād sometimes have their site up all day while I worked and could watch the beluga whales all day.
That looks like fun! Iām sure my son will enjoy that.
