Serger Class Bag

I decided to try to make peace with my serger. This is not an easy process, I’ve not had a good time with it in the past. So I decided to sign up to take a serger class at a local quilting store! 8 weeks, 3 hours/week.

Showed up on the first day and my serger completely jams. I think, fine, maybe I can borrow my friend’s… nope the connection for the foot pedal on hers is broken. Both of our machines are in the shop now, and I got a cheap serger to try to finish out the class…

Class one was a table runner/mat.
Class two was about flatlock seams.

I combined the two things I made in the class and … using my trusty, beloved sewing machine… (shhhh, don’t tell) turned the two pieces into a bag with a pocket.

I could do a much better job had a known a bag was going to be the ultimate project, and I would have picked colors I liked a little more, but… it’s at least useful?

Kudos for trying something new. I was given a serger, but I am too intimidated to even pull it out of hte bag it came in.
I love purples, so the bag looks great to me!

Good for you! I have a serger as well…. Super intimidating. Perhaps your efforts will inspire me to get mine out and play with it.

The bad turned out cute, I think!

What a great way to make peace with your serger (and also a great way of phrasing that notion)! Oh wait, I just read the next paragraph, it sounds like your serger was against the notion and once again gave you reason to feel frustrated.

Do you think that you’ll be ready to put your skills to use once your serger recovers from repairs?

Your bag came out cute. Nice job of combining the projects!
