I used the tie the new thread to the old thread method to rethread my serger. It worked beautifully last time, but I messed up this time. So I completely rethreaded the thing. It is getting easier to rethread as Iget the hang of it all. Now to finishing some seams in my pirate shirt.
Catching up on some of the posts here…
I store homemade patterns in manila envelopes these days. I can write notes on the outside and include swatches and things inside and they store well in a big plastic bin under my work table. I also have tracing paper and kraft paper on large rolls now that are both great for pattern making. I just fold them. They stay put easier than the pattern tissue paper that always gets static-y when I iron it, IMO.
I have one of those plastic ArtBin boxes for thread and I am not a fan. I would rather have a wood spool rack and see it all on the wall because I just forget what colors I have and don’t want to pull the bin out. It’s a weird size and never stacks neatly with anything else. But I can’t justify the change at the moment so maybe later. At the moment I only have serger thread in black and white so whichever I am not using gets tossed in a bin with… yarn.
Also, I really love your large bobbins @photojenn
Brilliant.
They’re so useful! I ended up printing a bunch of extras just to keep on hand.
This morning I also printed a couple of these to hold 2" stretch lace
There’s something so satisfying about finding/making the perfect storage for something.
Edited to add - I find myself switching my needle a lot, especially between jersey and universal, so I 3d printed a holder so I can quickly find what I’m looking for (and figure out what needle is in my machine)
