Who doesn’t want Shane Hollander’s fleece jacket from the Sochi Olympics scenes of Heated Rivalry? The Craftlympics challenge was the perfect opportunity to go for it!
I studied the costume piece in the series and determined it was actually made of Sherpa (a minky/fleece would have a less noticeable pile and wouldn’t read as fluffy as Sherpa does on film). And it also appears unlined. I debated self-lining but was undecided until I found a “Sherpa fleece” fabric as Walmart by chance (it’s like a minky fabric) and decided to line it with that for extra coziness. But it made it appear much more bulky than the costume piece (and makes me feel fat) Oh, well.
The big question was whether I remembered how to do zipper welt pockets! And also figuring out how I wanted to do the appliques was a pain of trial and error for a couple methods.
