Shaping yarn hair: tips please?

So, I have a friend who is making amigurumi and wants to give them tufts of hair made of brushed-out yarn. She can get the pretty hair-like texture, but wants to know if there are any good tips to help it keep its shape. Like if it’s an animal that has a distinctive tail or mane shape, or hair on a doll that she wants to stay in a half-curl. Is there a product or something that would help it stay in that shape? Regular hair-spray? Some kind of glue? Or do you have any other tips? Thanks, all!

I think I’ve heard of regular hair spray being used, but I haven’t done it myself, so I don’t know for sure…

I know if your making doll wig out of brushed out yarn they recommend hair spray too, but I haven’t tried it yet.
