Shiny Ornaments Christmas Cards

This is number five from the five card designs I made for the Christmas Card Swap. Though in actuality, the first one I made pieces for.

I started with some yupo paper, alcohol ink, and acrylic ink. I swirled and swished them around until I had an intersting pattern.

Next a used a poinsettia die cut to cut petal shapes, which I instead used as ornaments.

Next I used a black posca pen to add detail to each ornament. Then I painted two cards with shimmery green watercolor and glued down my ornaments. I die cut the sentiment from some shiny gold scrapbook paper.

To finish things off, I added some more doodles and stars with a fine liner and outlined the sentiment so it would pop more. I was going for a 50s look overall.

You really had so many great ideas this year for cards! How fun to try different techniques and use supplies in different ways. I really love this one…it does have a MCM feel to it!

D’oh! I would never have thought of using a poinsettia die, but it worked perfectly here. I have mine on display in the living room!
