Shrink Plastic Peacock Necklace

This one was pretty fun to make.

I sketched out a design based on a necklace I found on the internet. I took a pic of it and then increased its size 3 times on my laptop.

I traced it onto my Shrink plastic, cut the pieces out, and baked them in the oven. I was very proud that they shrunk to the perfect size. You see I had purchased flat back plastic gems and I needed the size to be pretty exact.

I painted the Shrink plastic in gilding paint and then roughed it up a bit and added some gunmetal metallic wax to give a more antique look.

I wanted to add pearls to the necklace but then I couldn’t find my actual pearls so I made some with polymer clay and some mica powder I had on hand.

And then I put it all together. I like how it turned out.

What a fun design! That’s pretty impressive that you were able to shrink it to the perfect size on your first try.
