This weekend was spent at a traditional sign writing course. It was a two day course, very intense requiring a lot of focus.
I wouldn’t have said that I am a patient person, but I keep picking up crafts that require a lot of meticulousness.
Anyway this was what I made, it still has some chalk marks but I can’t wipe them off for a couple of days as we used sign writing enamel and it’s slow to dry.
What a cool class! And your sign turned out so authentic-looking! I mean, it’s a real sign, but it truly looks like the traditional sign-painting style that it is. Good for you for harnessing your inner meticulousness!
This is so, SO cool! And your makers mark would be most excellent copied for cards, greeting and business sized. I adore the imperfect perfection on it all, especially with the chalk lines. Makes it look structurally schematic.
That sounds like a really fun class. And I love the idea of turning it into business cards. I think the step with just the shadows and the white outlines looks amazing. You could use it for a more subtle version.
And that’s not even all! I heard a story about another sign maker in the class who does optical illusion grass paintings! It really is the niftiest skill, so cool.
