Slime Toad Halloween Chunky House

I made this for @RagingSloth in the Chunky Halloween Houses 2025 GALLERY Swap. It is based on her themes of “Slime” and “Toads.”

The base is a thick backing board. I made the toad out of corrugated cardboard, hot glue, and acrylic paint. The slime is green hot glue I let drip and built up in layers. I used a heat gun to remelt some of the spots so it looked even more slick and gooey.

The toad’s eyes and warts are also hot that I painted.

I ended up loving him! It turned out even better than I hoped (what a rare treat!).

Thanks for swapping with me, RagingSloth, and thanks to all of you for taking a look!

He’s amazing! You seriously come up with some cool stuff.

I love that. Wow. What amazing work.

Such a cool effect! I love your toad and all the textures.

I love this thing so much! I can’t stop admiring it!

I don’t think any of us will ever look at hot glue in the same way! How wonderful that such a simple supply gave all those effects! I love the slime, but the warts on the toad are incredible!

Wow! This is so cooool! You really made the most of your materials on this, especially the hot glue.

That is pretty great– I like the way the slime makes a bit of a stand, too.

Thanks for the kindness, everyone! I’m glad to welcome some of you into the wonders and versatility of hot glue! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Here’s another tip: You can use hot glue, colored or otherwise, in silicone molds for some great and easy embellishments! I shared a tutorial on the old site, but it doesn’t really need one. Put some hot glue in a mold, wait for it to dry, pop it out. Paint it, if you want. Attach it with some more hot glue or other plastic-friendly adhesive.
