I made a new batch of handcarved vases this spring, and boy is my hand tired! (But seriously, it was a LOT of carving, and I always forget how long this stuff takes until I’m about halfway done…)

Utterly gorgeous! I especially love the ones that seem abstract, but I think must be round things in your local environment. I really love that you carved the bottoms, too.
Ack! Yes! I think you’re talking about my (mildly abstract-ified) opihi, which are Hawaiian limpets. They’re used for food and jewelry, but I mostly just think they’re cute when they’re on rocks by the shore.
There’s also local lore that opihi are responsible for the most human deaths, because they tend to live on slippery rocks in the tidal zones where people can be easily swept to sea if they’re not careful when harvesting.
(There are actually some conservation/collection laws protecting them now too; they have to be a certain size, etc. which I personally think is a good thing.)
