Somewhere plover the rainbow

First of all, I know it’s not a plover. It’s a tern.

This started as the September “Craft Club” challenge in the Nerd Games Summer Camp, where the object was to make the little macrame rainbow with rope and embroidery floss.

When my rainbow stripes were done, I wasn’t sure how I wanted to attach them together, so I decided to weave a little background on a pin loom and then embroider an abstract-ish manu o kū in flight. Then I used the rest of the rope I had to make a hanging apparatus (and there is some rope sewn along the top back to help keep it stiff-ish when hanging.

P. S. the plover pun was from my partner. It isn’t accurate, but I decided to use it anyway, just for fun. and pun.

Large, elaborate art is nice but there’s something special to be said about tiny art. It’s special! It’s a sweet bird, whatever it is. I know it’s simple but I’m impressed that you wove your own fabric background.

So impressed that I searched pin loom and found this blog post at Pin Loom Weaving. I like her various thread weight samples woven on a little rectangle loom. I also like the little adjustable loom with the blue thread on it.

Your yellow stars are darling and I like how you attached the macrame rainbow and how you sewed rope along the top back as a stabilizer.

The little background tapestry is such a perfect showcase for the rainbow. It’s so cute. Love the colors and textures!
