Hello! I’m new here (I hope I’m in the right spot) and I wanted to wait until I finished the project I was working on to post! (I tried to post last week, but the photos I was choosing was not the photos being pasted here!)
This is a sweater that I’ve been working on for a bit, finding materials and also making sure it stayed true to me.
I thrifted the sweater and the fabric to do the letters and I hand embroidered three of my favorite vegetables that I grow in my garden. I wanted a “homemade look” to the lettering and chose a jagged (painstaking) hand stitch.
“Don’t just stand there, grow something!” is a call to action to inspire not only to grow a garden but understanding the impact a garden has. The homemade elements to signify that anyone with the right mindset can grow or sew, finding passion and community within.
I don’t think I’ll ever be truly finished with this sweater, I have some ideas to crochet the cuffs and I would like to add something to the back and sleeves, but for now I’m super happy with it and it came out better than my vision.
Welcome to Lettuce Craft!!! This is quite the first project. You should be proud.
It looks like such a fun sweater! I love the hand embroidered veggies and the actions shots!
Welcome to LettuceCraft (the best place on the internet)! What a great project. It’s always satisfying when you complete a project that you feel proud of and the fact that you can wear it and see your accomplishment whenever you do is a definite bonus! I like the color variation on your pumpkin. Did you use a variegated floss?
