I made an abstract painting with acrylic paint, tore a spiral out of it (freehand) and stuck it on a white background first and then a on a black background.
I hope you like it.

It’s very visually striking! I like designs that are bold and graphic.
That little line of white along the spiral really pops!
Thanks, @endymion and @wittychild !
Glad you like it.
That’s some patient tearing to get it so perfectly spiraled, wow! And orange, it’s my favourite
Very cool! Love that you got 2 images out of the same exercise.
Thanks, @Magpie and @Abbeeroad !
Yes, I like that by combining traditional art techniques with digital techniques you can reuse pieces.
What a cool idea!
Thanks for sharing— I need to try this tearing sometime soon
Tip:
If you’re not confident tearing freehand, you could just draw a spiral on the back first.
Tear along the lines and when you’ve reached the middle part, turn back and tear a small strip away on the other side, so you get the space in between.
You could even already draw all lines, but you don’t want your spiral to be too smooth (that’s why I tore mine freehand, since I’m such a perfectionist…).
While you’re tearing away, check to see if the white outline appears. If not, try tearing with the paper upside down.
